It is a really good brut d'alembic 81 ABV! It's from Oliver Matter, and is one of my favorite blanches.
Together with dark chocolate, nuts, dried fruit, it is stunningly good! Be careful though, you need 4:1 or 5:1 with this, it's very strong! Link to LDF page -------------------- Ma femme déteste l'absinthe. Plus pour moi!

Today a friend returned home from working on a cruise ship (guitar player) for six months, so we celibrated with Sevil, his first blanche, then la Masion Fontaine and finished with Tesseron 53. Now I must plan for his departure in 2 weeks.  |

I'm putting in an order at DUNY Rob...what Calvados would you suggest? It will hopefully be something my wife will enjoy as well.

Go with the Christain Drouin calvados and also try their Pommeau it is an apple cider/ calvados blend, you will find it in their cider section. Have her try the latter first. If you can find it locally, try Busnel Calvados vsop, half the money and a very good introduction without getting too complicated. It you have any interest in cognac at all, calvados is a must to explore. Astor wines has the Busnel but no pommeau. You should have asked me earlier, you know the world ends on Saturday  Oh crap !! it's Saturday in France when I post this. |

Buy Calvados from French Vintage Spirits
 More seriously, don't buy any bottom-of-the-range calvados from Busnel, it's shit, only for cooking or sinking. I don't remember having tasted the VSOP but I don't trust producers who can't make a decent bottom-of-the-range calvados. Same goes for Père Magloire. And you know what they tell you when you buy the bottom-of-the-range calvados in their shop near where I live? They say: "it's not good for tasting, only for cooking". Can you believe it? -------------------- "Boire une absinthe, c’est corriger l’eau vertement."
